This opportunity leads the charge to create growth for the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and in our industry by promoting printing career opportunities. It serves as the primary liaison between SGIA and various stakeholders in the workforce development and education arenas, which include Students and Educational Institutions/Educators.
The role manages oversight of the educational content delivered to members and non-members in the areas of workforce development and career growth. Promotes the importance of training and workforce development to member and non-member printing companies, students and educational institutions/by helping to develop a culture that embraces education and employment of those seeking careers in printing.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND DUTIES:
Assist in the development and advancement of association educational efforts.
Create, implement and update project/program activities related to workforce development strategy.
Serve as project manager and primary staff liaison for SGIA’s student SGIA scholarship.
Serve as project manager and coordinate membership staff for SGIA’s annual student printing competition.
Establish clear understanding of the Young Professionals Advisory Council’s purpose and role in delivering educational solutions for members.
Serve as primary liaison on the Young Professional Advisory Council and other committees as assigned.
Ensure all record keeping of the committees is accurate and timely, including working with the committee chairperson in the preparation of meeting agendas and minutes.
Serve as primary staff member for marketing to Educational Institutions/Educators.
Coordinate the Student Ambassadors at the annual Expo by serving as project manager and coordinating membership staff.
Assist with annual Expo registration testing.
Develop and implement a robust workforce development initiative including, but not limited to, the following strategies:
Promote the association’s Student and Educational Institution/Educator programs and services in a positive and professional manner, through interaction with students, educational institutions/educators, youth and young adult organizations and prospective members.
Maintain close dialogue with Students and Educational Institution/Educators companies to better understand their educational needs and work with appropriate staff and committees to align SGIA’s offerings.
Develop a program/project plan to ensure members are informed of all workforce development actions.
Engage students and educational institutions/educators and enroll them in SGIA’s programs and services.
Build strategic partnerships with key groups including high schools, career centers, educational institutions, colleges and companies in order to build new pipelines of students, educational institutions/educators.
Work with community and industry to increase SGIA’s exposure and penetration in the printing market.
Work with the SGIA sales team on funding sources for appropriate programs and services.
Collaborate with Director of Member Relations & Engagement to create a comprehensive marketing plan.
Manage and update assigned Association web landing page content on a regular basis.
Serve as SGIA representative at approved conferences, events and school visits as directed (when/if appropriate).
Support SGIA collaborative efforts as required or requested for:
Support SGIA outreach efforts as required in support of student/educator awareness around employment opportunities in the industry.
Administrative and Customer Service
Maintain and update processes and policies (SOP’s) on a regular basis.
Maintains membership records, solicits and acknowledges memberships, and prepares correspondence regarding the organization and its programs.
Supports the membership department by helping to maintain the accuracy of SGIA’s association management system and developing a thorough understanding of the system and data to inform and create reports and lists that support our members.
Serve as back-up to the SGIA front desk for daily breaks and as needed.
Assist the Director of Member Relations & Engagement on preparing and managing the annual budget for appropriate programs and regularly provide benchmarking, status and forecasting reports
Assist the Director of Member Relations & Engagement with implementing and maintaining a plan to promote careers in printing (job board)
Perform such other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Member Services or the Director of Member Relations & Engagement
Maintain a professional working relationship with other staff members that will help the Association achieve its objectives and ensure a productive work environment.
Committees and Advisory Councils: maintain a professional and ethical relationship that will help the committee achieve its goals and assist the committees to the extent that staff and budgeted resources are available.
Committee chairs: establish and maintain rapport with committee chairs to ensure a smooth and productive working relationship.
General membership: respond professionally and promptly to inquiries or requests for help from members.
Requests for services or assistance outside of the department’s resources should be referred to the appropriate department or immediate direct supervisor.
