An Interviewer/Translator is the full performance level of work interpreting between spoken English and another language in both consecutive and simultaneous modes in a variety of settings.
The main purpose of this position is to provide programs with interpreting and translating services with the Queen Anne's County Department of Health as needed with a primary emphasis on the Breast and Cervical Cancer, Colorectal Cancer and Screening, Family Planning, Maryland Children's Health Program and Healthy Families Mid-Shore Programs.
The selected candidate must be bilingual in English/Spanish.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six months of experience providing formal interpretation and translation services between English and a second language.
1. Formal interpretation services may include documented work as a volunteer interpreter for a nonprofit, human service or faith-based organization.
2. Additional experience interpreting and translating between English and a second language may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Linguist or Language Capability classifications or Linguist or Language Capability specialty codes in the Linguistic field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Licenses, Registrations And Certifications:
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
